OUR STORIES

We are a collective of three families who have all suffered the same level of grief when our
children/family members died whilst inpatients under the care of TEWV Trust.
Christie, Nadia and Emily died within an eight-month period between June 2019 and February 2020. It is
not just their deaths that were shocking but the appalling standard of care they were
subject to whilst inpatients. This had been happening for years prior to their deaths and families had
filed complaints to ward managers, Hospital managers, Board members and even the CEO. Nothing
changed with regards to care, following policy and guidelines and no resolutions to the myriad of
complaints.
A Public Inquiry is the only way forward to address the serious and ongoing concerns that are happening
in the Mental Health services provided by TEWV Trust. Since our girl's deaths the CQC has consistently
rated services as 'Inadequate' as the same errors and bad practice are being repeated. No lessons have
been learnt from Christie, Nadia and Emily's deaths.
Now is the time for change, 3 lives must not have been lost in vain. We have a petition on here to call for
a Public Inquiry into TEWV Trust if you could take the time to sign it and even share it, we would be most
grateful.
If you or a family member have experienced substandard care under TEWV Trust Mental Health services
and wish to share your experience please contact us via this website. Let us know if you want to remain
anonymous or are happy for your details to be attached to your story and if it can be published. If you
wish to send messages or any queries, we look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your time.

Christie Harnett

Christie's Experience

Christie Harnett : 13th February 2002 - 27th June 2019

Christie was a  wonderful, intelligent, vibrant, beautiful 17 year old, but she had difficulties with her mental health from a very young age, no help was forthcoming when we asked for it. Things deteriorated in 2016 when she had just started year 10 at school. In may 2017 Christie was admitted to hospital as she had lost an awful lot of weight in a very short period of time, this was the start of our nightmare.

On the 27th June 2019 at 11am her life support was withdrawn, at 11.14am her heart beat for the last time.

Emily Moore

Emily's Experience

Emily Moore : 4th February 2002 - 15th February 2020

Emily grew up in the town of Shildon, in County Durham, where she was a bright and funny individual with lots of friends and loved by many. She really was the last person you would think of who would suffer from severe mental health issues but tragedy struck our family whether this was a trigger for her mental health we will never know. Lanchester Road Hospital said they would keep an eye on her but no one did and she died alone at her very lowest . If someone had been there she could have still been here today.

She died on 15th February 2020, in the care of TEWV.

Nadia's Experience

Nadia Sharif

Nadia Sharif : 1st February 2002 - 9th August 2019.

Nadia was born on the 1st February 2002 to loving parents, Hakeel and Arshad Sharif. Nadia grew up in Middlesbrough in the North East of England. She was caring, very bright and always smiling. When Nadia moved into secondary school, Nadia’s behaviour began to change. She transferred to several schools until she was eventually diagnosed by CAMHS with autism. Nadia went into West Lane Hospital (Rosewood Centre). However, her mental health worsened. Devastatingly, on the 5th August 2019, Nadia was found unconscious in her room at West Lane.

She was taken to James Cook Hospital where she died on Friday 9th August 2019.

Andrew Fawcett

Andrew's Experience

Andrew Fawcett : 11th March 1979 - 16th September 2019.

My dad was very much a big family man, having worked since he was 16 years old as a Bricklayer. He worked for a few different companies and worked on projects such as: James Cook Hospital and Rockcliffe Hall, all of which he was immensly proud of, he would always show us photos or take us to see his work.

He and my Mam had me when she was 17 and he was 19. They moved into there own house around 6 months after I was born and that was our family home for 20+ years. Im now 23 and they then had my brother Kieron (now 19) and Sister Isabelle (now 13) not long after me.

Nathan's Experience

Nathan Evison : 8th May 2000 - 11th September 2019

On 8th may 2000 my life changed forever when a screaming ginger haired fist clenched little boy came in to my world !

He came in to the world fighting and was known as Squidge .

we were lucky that we had all our family to support us and we lived with Nathans grandparents who idolised him.

Nathan bowed from life on the 11th September 2019 aged just 19 years old.
